Yellow Mask

First Performing Piece!

I try to put on my "painting," and then interact with audience. I finished this monster-like yellow mask, when I had my residenct in Vermont Studio Center in March, 2010. The secure environment offers me a valuable chance to push my work into public space. Meanwhile, I also provide all kinds of "Free Service," for example, cleaning, washing dishes, dumping trash, etc. If you need any free service, please email: yihsintzeng@yihsintzeng.com.

Recently, I finished two new piece for
"My Hero Series." It is very strange. After coming to the States, I started to have strong interest in our President, Chiang Kai-shek. However, he is not really our President. In Taiwan, some people hate him very much; some people admire him also very much. One the one hand, the complicated history of Taiwan resulted in his controversial character; on the other hand, he is the person who caused our controversial history. If you want, you can find more information here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chiang_Kai-shek. I ate and collected bubble gum for almost one month in order to create a new face for My Dear Hero!

New Studio in Atlanta Contemporary Art Center!

After graduating from school, studio space becomes the biggest issue in my life. Fortunately, I am awarded this awesome space in the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center, which offers me a valuable chance to keep going my art practice.
Atlanta Contemporary Art Center is an important landmark in Atlanta contemporary art scene. It curates some interesting exhibitions, invites well-known artists or curators to do talk and draw Atlanta-based artists together. I am very honored to become part of this family. My Magazine Project is an on-going reproducing magazine project, which starts from March, 2009. So far, I already have 5 issues. They are all kinds of magazines I collect from my daliy life.
Sorry for being late...I stopped this project about 3 months in order to prepare my life after graduation. The studio space in
Atlanta Contemporary Art Center provides me the woderful environment to resume this exciting project.

On my trip back Taipei in summer, 2009, I bought several authentic and popular commercial magazines as my souvenirs for my motherland. Choc (恰女生)is the first magazine in Taiwan devoted to teenager fashion and style. In my work, I mainly adapt images from two~three Taiwanese fashion or cosmetic magazines, "alter" images and then republish into a new magazine. The speciality of this issue is the usage of "Foam." This is not my first time using foam but it is the first time that I use so much amount in "My Magazine." I hope you will enjoy it!
